FAQS2024

What is the Highlander Club?

The Highlander Club is the fundraising arm of Radford University Athletics. It is dedicated to raising financial resources to ensure that our coaches and student-athletes have the necessary financial means to compete for championships, and to provide student-athletes the best collegiate experience on and off the playing field.

Where does my gift go?

Donations are primarily used to provide scholarship aid to our 16 varsity sport programs. Gifts are used to improve facilities, to provide much needed support for our teams and to meet the needs for special projects that help our student-athletes stay focused on their studies, team and personal success.

Highlander Club members like you play an integral role in funding:
  • Student-athlete scholarships
  • Academic support services
  • Athletic training, strength and condition, and nutrition programs
  • Recruiting
  • Facility enhancements
  • Life skill programs

What is the different between a restricted and unrestricted gift?

Restricted gifts are designated to a specific sport program, facility or project. Unrestricted gifts go directly toward the Highlander Club Annual Fund and help offset general departmental expenses.

Is my gift to the Highlander Club tax deductible?

Yes. All contributions for Radford Athletics are made through, and considered gifts to, the Radford University Foundation. The Radford University Foundation will provide an annual tax receipt. Gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law; please consult your tax advisor. Other gifts in exchange for your donation will also be noted on your tax receipt. For more tax information, click here

How much of my Highlander Club gift will my company match and what is the procedure?

If your employer is a participant in a matching gift program, you will receive Highlander Club credit for the total contribution. This is a great way to double and increase your giving level. See your employer's Human Resources Department for complete information on matching gifts. Please note: Some companies will not match to Athletics.
